Columbus Classic is the original version of one of the favourite slot machines of recent years, where players join Christopher Columbus on his voyages across the high seas in search of new lands and treasure. Play begins when the player decides on their stake and the number of win lines in conjunction with the pay table listed within the game. They can be increased or decreased to the player’s exact requirements. The player can then manually click ‘Start’, or use the Auto Play function where the game uses the chosen stake and win line selection to carry out spins on the player’s behalf.

When a player spins in a win in Columbus Classic, they are offered the opportunity to gamble through the ‘Gamble’ button lighting up. Players are under no obligation to do so – they can immediately collect without even entering the special gamble game if they prefer. If they choose to gamble, their win hinges on the turn of a card, with the six previous drawn cards displayed at the top of the play area. This option ends when either the player collects their win or is unsuccessful in a gamble.

If a player manages to spin in three or more of Columbus’ ships on any spin, they enter the game’s bonus mode. Here, the player receives ten free spins at their current stake rate with the ships converting from a scatter symbol to a wild card. Should three or more ships appear during a bonus game, a further ten spins are added to the player’s free balance.
