The theme of The Alchemist is of a part scientist, part magician and his on-going search for the recipe for gold. His Magic Book appears as the wild symbol that substitutes for any other symbol except for the bonus Gold symbol, and also acts as the game’s scatter symbol. When three, four or five Magic Book symbols appear, the player is awarded ten, twelve or fifteen bonus games respectively, and the Gold symbol is activated.

When the Gold symbol appears on any reel during the bonus game, it expands to cover the entire reel and increases prizes regardless of where it is adjacent to. The Magic Book symbol also continues to appear during the bonus game, still acting as a wild card. If a player spins in three or more Magic Book symbols during the bonus game, the corresponding number of free spins is added to the number currently in play.
